Elephant polo is bespoke royalty. Elephants have always remained important paraphernalia of the kings due to their majestic presence. Perhaps the only place where this sport can be witnessed and played is India. The colossal size of elephants evokes awe, yet its docile nature and doleful eyes, its graceful movements fascinated everyone. This one of a kind spectacle involves enormous pachyderms moving around the field after the ball at great speed, of course in Elephantine standard. There is one player/participant on each elephant, which is ridden by the ‘Mahout’. The game is played over four ‘chukkers’ of seven minutes each. Players change after every ‘chukker’ to give an opportunity to others to participate and enjoy this royal experience.
