India Wedding Theme with a Grand Royal Procession
An Indian Wedding is a much grander and regal affair than any event in India. It can be celebrated in various styles with different customs.

A traditional Hindu wedding is known for romance and tradition can be organised with the bride and groom dressed in full regalia accompanied by a procession led by elephants, horses and camels. Wedding vows may take place at the hotels grounds and officiated by a ‘pundit’ (priest).

The royal Rajput wedding takes place amidst of medieval grandeur, which is reminiscent of the kingly style of a proud warrior race. A grand procession of gaily decorated camels and elephants welcome the guests; brass band playing lively tunes, ‘mashaals’ (flaming torches, hostesses dressed in colourful Rajasthani costumes welcome the guests with traditional, ‘aarti’ and ‘tikka’ and garlanding ceremonies. Folk dancers twirl and posture to timeless tunes that invoke the blessings of the gods for an auspicious wedding with the musicians playing ‘Shehnai’. A traditional Rajput wedding ceremony involves the group members participating as the ‘baraat’ (the bridegroom's family and friends who form the wedding party) and the bride's party. The ‘baraat’ party arrives with a local band, complete with ‘mashaals’ (torches). The hosts (bride's party) receive the ‘baraat’ party and the wedding ceremony is performed under a decorated ‘mandap’ (pavilion). The ‘meena bazaar’ (a colourful bazaar for the ladies) also forms an integral part of the setting. A festive buffet meal is laid out for both parties in the illuminated palace hotel. It is accompanied by ‘shehnai’ music and folk dances. Furthermore, adding to this joyous affair is the traditional ‘mehendi’ (henna) application for the ladies, which is considered auspicious at the time of any Indian wedding.
